Loading Nikon NEF Files into PhotoShop 7

Using Nikon NEF Plugin for Adobe PhotoShop 7 without installing any Nikon software.

I had many problems being able to load Nikon NEF files for editing on my system, as i was unable to install the Nikon apps due to it not being compatible with my operating system (Windows 2003 Server). This was using PhotoShop 7 and the free Nikon PictureProject. If you have a different camera (mine is a D70) then the files in the \profiles folder will probably de different.

After much messing around i have a solution that allows you to manually install the Nikon NEF plug in for PhotoShop without installing the Nikon applications.

Make a copy of the following Nikon files and copy them to your C:\Windows\System32\ folder:

NEFLibrary3PS.dll
Asteroid6.dll
Strato4.dll
StdFilters3PS.dll

CML.dll
picn20.dll

Make a copy of the following Nikon files and copy them to your C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Plug-Ins\Adobe Photoshop Only\File Formats\ folder:
